Cooking:

  • Cleared out the La Costeña Refried Pinto Beans that sat in the pantry since before 2024, when r left for Chicago. Fried it with minced beef, onions, and shishito peppers, and sprinkled in some taco seasoning. Heated up a few pita breads and called it a night.
  • Bought sourdough from our fav spot, Pure Bread. Made our usual Sunday brunch set, this time with sautéd carrot n onion slices, runny sunny side-up, gouda, prosciutto, cold ham, and crumbled rosemary Asiago. Cherries and an americano on the side.
  • After 2 years of making pesto on my own, Mom said I was missing the grated Parmesan this entire time!
  • Learned how to clean freshly caught ribbon fish by Dad
  • Baked a chocolate banana bread.

Happening:

  • The left window started leaking too, after a heavy week of belated rainy season, so the landlord had technicians check on it for the 7ᵗʰ or 8ᵗʰ time this past year. Per usual, they drilled more holes into the Victorian frames, blamed the structure, and left with more bullet holes. It’s beginning to really resemble a collapsing fortress.
  • Biked to and from my parents’ place (2 hours) just so we could have dinner with Ma. It doesn’t get better than a riverside ride at dawn after the rain… until I crashed into the railings coming down a ramp that isn’t meant for bikes¹. Before I could make a 90° turn, my front tire jammed into the metal bars, sending the full force of the impact bouncing back from the frame straight into my leg. Now I have a 5cm-wide bruise above my left knee and minor scrapes around my ankle.
  • Retold the horror story at work, to which Ma responded in typical Ma-fashion, “So what’s your plan? The blog huh?” d chuckled, with a backpack filled with yogurt and frozen fish parts.
  • Received my Natal reading from a colleague/friend.

Editing:

  • Backfilling from Notes and Doc since mid June (WIP)
  • Made letterings proportionate rather than monospaced
  • Experimenting with post formats (ie., one-liner thoughts)
  • Added a bar for quotations
  • Edited homepage text–aimless fixations–still dissatisfied
  • Made latest preview string, truncate: 70
  • Added, (accidentally) deleted, then added back Last Updated
  • Added tag: adulting
  • Made the default bullet point: ⊹
  • Added links to footnotes

Consuming:

Replacing (myself):

  • Learnt that G can reject me twice in a row: I seem to be encountering an error. Can I try something else for you? I’ve given up responding, try again and instead press ↻ for maximum dissatisfaction and detachment.
  • G mapped the wrong documents despite getting it right 99% of the time with files names of the same pattern.
  • Layered copy-paste instructions is G’s advantage, don’t undermine its ability to keep you sane!

Footnotes

  1. d claims the ramp is intended for bikes. For context, it has exposed stair steps on BOTH sides, making the middle aisle so extremely narrow that one’d crash right into the stairs if the handlebars swivel even a fraction of an inch.
