There are certainly situations where Companies extend deep into their employees personal lives.
Mining towns were infamous for this, where the company also held the housing, ran the grocery store, etc. Often they even paid in “Company Script” which was only redeemable in company stores.
These might have the trappings of benevolence, and might even have been well intentioned originally, but the massive imbalance in power makes these inevitably dystopian. Companies exist to turn a profit, and while you can make profits treating people well, sooner or later someone will figure out you can make a lot more profits treating them poorly (At least in the short term).
