d is the chef of the week! He whipped up (MON) burger patties on sliced grain loaf, (SAT) baked pesto fish alongside mayo potato salad, and (SUN) stir-fried tomatoes and green peppers with German sausage. Only salt and pepper are needed when vegetables have their own natural flavors. d proved once again that he’s fully capable whenever I let go of the reins.
The local pho place beats the one near the office by a mile. We always stick to our usuals: classic beef pho and fresh spring rolls packed with pork slice and shrimp¹.
We checked out an Izakaya to celebrate someone being placed on a communication improvement plan. Nothing beats unwinding over our own work gossip on a weekday with good food: meat skewers, potatoes in creamy fish roe sauce, stir-fried 水蓮, buttered clams with sponge gourd, and salmon fried rice. The only downside was realizing the missing grilled corn as we were about to leave, only for the kitchen to make us wait another 20 minutes to inform us they never put it on the grill.
Stepped into a Hongkongese diner that transported us straight to the 90s—the interior was covered with mirrors and tiles and traditional wooden diner-style seating. We ordered steamed shrimp rice rolls (腸粉), claypot sausage and pork chop rice (臘味排骨煲仔飯), char siu lo mein (叉燒撈麵), and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce.
d discovered a falafel lettuce wrap stand nearby with great chicken options too. Perfect for a quick lunch!

Ever since d chipped the glass jug, we haven’t had cold water for the past month, until the new (secondhand) glass jug and cup set arrived. We reversed time. I managed to source the exact same jug, only better because it came bundled with four blue octagonal glasses. That same night, I gave two of them away to Dad when he dropped off meat buns and savory 草仔粿 from Grandma.
Ran another 10k with a faster opening pace, though my heart rate spiked a bit too much toward the end.
Finally finished Yesteryear after realizing I couldn’t bring myself to focus on the comprehension questions. I can read just fine.

Took Friday afternoon to not do what I promised.
I spent the weekend eating, sleeping, and blogging in my corner of two thin cushions, right up until d suggested biking across the city for dumplings and braised dishes (滷味). I agreed on one condition: a strict 3-hour limit for the round trip ✅

It kept mapping numbers using flawed logic despite repeated corrections. Even after I walked it through the verified numbers, it lazily copied my evidence and applied the wrong logic to other dates.
a is good about explaining its thought process and made-up justifications. It also has access to my Drive which I am a little concerned, but at least I don’t have to upload files over 5 MB to Space.

tx built an AI agent to monitor one of my task emails, under the guise of a helpful agent to flag which messages need a manual response versus a canned template. I’m just waiting for the day a canned reply goes out when it shouldn’t, and he somehow finds a way to blame me for it. (More on this AI email/Slack bot saga later.)
