I am so deep in Maylor-lore trenches, it’s hard not to read this as a mega dig at figuring out T&T was a farce–or worse, a not-so-subtle-nod to Taylor putting up The Truman Show, while scheming…her own exit?? From what though? Her marriage with Travis? The raging fans for dictating who she should date? Her self, the antihero or the showgirl persona?
Joe probably felt played for all the songs written supposedly about him (as the timeframe aligns) but actually not, especially towards the latter half, as their relationship could have never superseded Truman Black?
Play within a play.
The mashups during tour should’ve been the tell tell sign that things never ended and never will. Sending cryptic lyrics and coded media appearances have been their mode of communication. You don’t sing sad limerence songs after being married to the love of your life.
